Trekking permits and TIMS

Trekking in Nepal requires certain permits to ensure safety, environmental conservation, and cultural respect. The Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) card is a mandatory permit for most treks, helping authorities track trekkers and ensure they are safe on the trail. National Park permits are required for treks in protected areas like Sagarmatha (Everest) and Annapurna regions. Special Conservation Area Permits (CAP) are needed for areas like the Langtang and Manaslu regions. Some restricted areas, such as Upper Mustang or Dolpo, require additional Restricted Area Permits. Trekking permits can be obtained through registered trekking agencies or the Nepal Tourism Board.
