Tilicho lake trekking offers some of the challenging landscapes to conquer along with the scenic beauty. This lake is located at an elevation of 4902m. The turquoise lake extends a serene ambiance to enjoy on this pristine land of Manang district. The Hindus believe that this lake is mentioned in the Ramayana as Kak Bhusundi Lake. It is believed that the respected sage Kak Bhusundi narrated the story of Ramayana to the king of birds, Garuda. When the sage narrated the story he took the shape of a crow. From there the lake was renamed as Kak Bhusundi. From the top of this highest mountain, one can relish the magnificent view of Annapurna ranges and other snow-covered mountains. This rigorous trekking can also be called as the cultural trekking across the beautiful Tibetan villages. Manang district is located on the River Valley of Marshyangdi River located on the northern part of Annapurna Range. On this trekking trail, one will cross another challenging point called Mesokanto La Pass located at an elevation of 5120m. As this pass is featured on this particular trekking route there it is also known as Tilicho Pass. With respect to other trekking trails, this showed amazing changes in landscapes as per weather.

On this trekking trail, one will be driving to Chamje passing across the beautiful villages and towns. On the route, the hikers will be trekking along the gushing Marsyangdi River flowing upstream till the end point of Manang. On this trekking trail, one finds out the melted snow on the northern slopes of Thorang and Annapurna peak. The majestic view of nature along with the warm hospitability of the ethnic groups will make the trekking completely amazing. After exploring the turquoise blue lake, one will trek down till Chauri Kharka. From there the hikers step into the Mustang district through Jomsom. The itinerary comes to an end with the scenic beauty of Pokhara. Along Annapurna Circuit Trekking, Tilicho Lake trek is one of the classic hiking trails extending amazing panoramic views of the mountains.

This day is kept in between for leisure purpose. As the hectic schedule will be starting from the very next day, one can relax in the hotel room.

If you are an explorer by heart then you will never stay in the room after coming to such a beautiful city of Kathmandu. You should all the world’s heritage sites located across Kathmandu. After completing your breakfast start for the day.

You will be visiting Pashupatinath temple for first. This amazing Licchavi period temple stood out spectacular among others for its wonderful architecture. Lord Pashupatinath is the national deity of the country. So the tourists visit this sacred place to seek blessings from the lord. For Hindus, it is one of the sacred places for encountering the spiritual power of Lord Shiva. Apart from a spectacular idol in the inner sanctum, the wooden handcraft skills on the temple walls will be an addition to your visual exposure.

Later you will be visiting Boudhanath stupa. It is one of the largest stupas located inside the country. UNESCO listed the site as the world’s heritage site. After the sudden demise of Lord Buddha, Licchavi kings built this monument for the followers. This stupa stands out as an epitome of peace. In Nepalese language, this stupa is called Chorten Ghenpo meaning the great stupa. The stupa was built on the earlier trade route for entering the Kathmandu valley.

Next, you will be visiting Patan Durbar Square. You will find out marvelous kind of Newar architecture. The squared cobbled shaped streets made out of red bricks are in addition to tourism. The Malla kings constructed this spectacular site. The awe-inspiring architectural site is quite enthralling to look at.

At last, you will be visiting Swayambhunath stupa. It is located in the northwestern part of the Kathmandu valley. The other name of the stupa is monkey temple. One can get panoramic views of the entire capital city from the top of the temple. It is one of the holiest stupas in Nepal. Inside the complex of the stupa, one can find numerous monasteries and temple shrines.

Day 3: Drive to Chamje

Today early in the morning you will be driving to Dumre. This small village is located in the southeastern part of Nepal in the Sagarmatha zone. The beautiful sight of the mountains along with the rugged landscape will be an amazing experience on your drive to Dumre. You will be reaching Chamje along the bank of Marsyangdi River. It is the mountain river of the country flowing for 150km. This river originated from the mountainous terrains of Annapurna near Manang village at an altitude of 3600m. Near Mugling this river meets Trishuli. Those who trek along the Annapurna circuit follow the path of river valley of Marshyangdi. On this route, you will be reaching Chamje. You will be enjoying the natural beauty of your travel. These trekking trails actually act as the cultural trip as well. The trekkers can easily encounter the lifestyles of the ethnic groups of people living on this trail.

Day 4: Trek from Chamje to Bagarchhap

Altitude: 2164m

Time: 6-7hrs trek

Today you will be starting for the trekking stretch. You will be trekking along the small village called Tal. This small village is the doorway to Manang district. The Buddhist followers settled on this plain firstly on the way to the Annapurna. On your way to Tal you will have to cross the mountainous terrains and rocky inclined plain. One has to be experienced enough to travel over such landscapes. The trekkers have to face challenging trekking trails on this way. When you will be trekking along the path you will feel like walking in the picture. This beautiful village widens into cascading waterfalls, green lands and amazing high hilltops. While entering the district of Manang you can spin the prayer wheels. On this way, you will be crossing amazing waterfalls called Dharapani. Today your last stop is Bagarchap. It is a small village located in the northern part of Nepal in the Gandaki zone. During the landslides in 1995, most of the part of Bagarchhap was affected. The villagers migrated to other towns for its vulnerable landscapes.

Day 5: Trek from Bagarchhap to Chame

Altitude: 2713m

Time: 5-6hrs trek

Today you will be traveling along the rhododendron filled forests. This part of the journey has to be completed with proper care. Due to vulnerable landscapes, this region often faces landslides. Today you will catch the perfect glimpse of Annapurna Mountains. During the earthquake in 2015, Chame was widely affected.

At night you will stay in Chame.

Day 6: Trek from Chame to Pisang

Altitude: 3185m

Time: 6hrs trek

Today you will be trekking towards Pishang. One can experience visual pleasure on the trekking trail across the mountains. The rough mountainous topography of Manang valley is quite amazing to look at. The deep gorges, swift-flowing of the river and spectacular aquamarine glaciers make the valley beautiful. Mostly the trekkers love to stay back in the lower Pisang and climb up to Upper Pisang to catch beautiful imageries of sunrise and sunset. On this trail, you can also experience wild forests, natural rock formations, endangered species, quaint villages, and roaring waterfalls and rivers.

At night you will stay in Pisang.

Day 7: Trek from Pisang to Manang

Altitude: 3551m

Time: 6hrs trek

Today you will be trekking to the upper part of the Manang. From upper Pisang, you will find two different trails one of the south and other on the north of Marsyangdi Khola. As compared to the southern route, the trails across the northern part offer quite a beautiful view of the Himalayas. On this route, the trekkers are fascinated with the beautiful river valleys and also the shimmering rivers coming out from the base of the Himalayas. The snowcapped mountains are just like a cherry on the cake.

Day 8: Rest Day

Today is for acclimatization purpose. For any high elevated trekking trails, one has to take a day gap for acclimatization purpose. On this day the trekkers understand the how to acquaint own self in the higher altitude. A proper physical and mental balance is required in such extreme conditions. Today you can go for small hiking to Praken Gompa monastery of Chongkor hill. From the top; of Chongkor hill you will really enjoy the panoramic view of the mountains.

Day 9: Trek from Manang to Khangsar

How to prepare for the trek?

When one starts for this trekking trail one has to keep in mind the hardship to be endured on the path. This amazing trekking path is like a cultural tour for you to explore the beauty of flora and fauna along with the picturesque view. When one starts the trekking, the initial days seem difficult to accommodate own self with the extremities of nature. With the passage of time, it will become difficult for the trekkers to carry rucksack across the mountainous terrains. Physical and mental adaptability is quite necessary for the trekkers to accomplish the journey. At the time one may lose hope for its extreme climatic and rugged terrains but one should continue for further to enjoy the amazing landscape. Trekking should be avoided during the months of monsoons for its vulnerable landscapes.

•    Start exercising 6 months prior to the trekking.

•    Try to practice with loads as one has to carry rucksack as well.

•    Sunburnt is quite common during the trekking path. Therefore one should carry the necessary medicines.

•    Mountain sickness is quite common among the first-timers. Therefore one should take proper medicine to avoid mountain sickness.

•    Get yourself mentally prepared as well to accommodate in such extreme weather conditions. At times trekkers lose hope for difficulty. One must continue dedicatedly to accomplish the              journey.

•    Avoid monsoons for its vulnerable weather conditions. One may face chances of getting bitten by leeches.

•    If you are trekking alone then you should take a professional guide for assistance.

•    Try to avoid any kind of mental stress before going for trekking.

•    Positive mental health is quite necessary for the trekking.
