Best time to visit: the best time to visit Muktinath is in summer. Till mid-August it is the ideal time for this pilgrimage tour. The landscape of upper Mustang is quite adverse. How to visit: There are many ways to visit Muktinath temple. The best way is by flight for time management. One can also trek to these places via Lo Manthang. Located in a remote location, this temple is quite famous among the disciples of Lord Vishnu. It is one of the eight most sacred sites dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The other name of Muktinath temple is Mukti Kshetra known as the place where one attains liberation.

The pristine location of the temple adds value to the itinerary. The temple holds a spiritual significance among both Hindus and Buddhists. The spiritual thinkers believe one has to be pure from the mind before entering a sanctified site of the god. The spiritual power of the lord will act as the driving force to follow the path of purity. It is believed that the devotee can internalize the divine power of the lord only with a pure mind. An uncontaminated spiritual mind will always be powerful over any evil force. The temple is located on the banks of Kali Gandaki River. Within the pure water of the river, the pilgrims collect the shaligram shila, the physical manifestation of Lord Vishnu. In many Indian households, this black stone is worshiped as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Outside the temple, there are 108 bull shaped water spouts are built for the pilgrims to take a holy bath before entering the temple premise. The devotees believe this holy water can rinse off the committed sins of the present life.

The Muktinath yatra by helicopter is one of the most promising itinerary availed by the pilgrims. In this short itinerary, one will be traveling to the temple via Kathmandu route. The helicopter tour starts from Kathmandu and it flies over the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountains. While flying across such high mountain peaks, it is a visual delight completely. Mostly a chopper is used for carrying passengers to this holy site. The helicopter will land at Ranipauwa and from there one will be going to Muktinath.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

After landing in the international airport of Kathmandu, our driver will pick you up for the hotel at the gateway. Our hotel executives will offer you welcome drinks. Then after a little rest, you can visit the Pashupatinath temple. It is the national deity of Nepal. It will be a lifetime experience for the pilgrims to witness the evening prayer in the temple. This 5th-century temple is built on the holy banks of Bagmati River. The cool breeze of the river and soothing sound of the bell chimes will make your short stay in the temple enticing. At night you will stay in the capital city.

Day 2: Muktinath visit

Today early in the morning you will be flying to the temple. It is advisable to take the early morning flight to catch the glimpse of the surrounding mountains. Due to the small chopper, every passenger can get a beautiful glimpse of the surrounding mountains. In this entire itinerary, you will feel a perfect blend of spirituality and natural beauty. The scenic beauty of the surrounding ambiance will surpass your travel experience.

The Vaishnava sect believes this site as one of the most sacred eight sights where self-emancipation can be possible. A golden statue of Muktinath is placed along with Sri Devi and Bhoodevi. The deity shows different paths of life, therefore it is known as the god of salvation. The courtyard of the temple has 108 bull faced water spouts splashing the holy water flowing from Kali Gandaki. Taking bath under the water of Pushkarini shows that the pilgrims can rinse off committed sins of the present and past lives.

The Buddhist disciples call the place as Salamebar Dholamebar Gompa. It is one of the sacred sites inside the premise of Muktikshetra. Guru Rinpoche meditated here as well. Inside the temple, three natural gas fires are present to show the eternity of the universe. The local residents call the site as cla Mewar, do Mewar and sale Mewar where the flames of fire coming out of water, rock, and earth respectively.

Inside the temple complex, there is a place of a natural fire. The Buddhists consider it is like the mirror to show the real self. Fire is the ultimate source of energy in the universe, the Buddhist followers believe that fire as the inner source of energy whereas the Hindus worship this fire as Jwala Mai. In both these religions, the idea of Maya is also important to give birth to the ideas of attachment. With Maya, the pilgrims get attached to these circles of life and this holy site shows the path of renouncing such illusion.

After visiting the amazing temple architecture and encountering the spiritual significance, you will be flying back to Kathmandu.
