General Information

Tibetan terrain is dry, cold, windy and dusty and night is much colder than the day. The best months for a Mt. Kailash trip are from May to September. During this period, the  maximum temperature will be 22oC and minimum temperature will drop to -10oC.

Anyone who can walk for an average of 4-5 hours a day can make this trip. The itinerary is programmed to help get the clients acclimatisation to the gradual rise in altitude. All participants are advised to check their fitness before joining the trip.

Altitude sickness may be felt above 3000m, but with the acclimatisation day and the gradual rise in altitude, you shouldn’t feel too much at discomfort. It’s always advisable to stay hydrated and drink lots of water.

Transportation in Tibet will be by Land Cruiser or Tourist Coach. A support truck will be travelling along to carry all the camping gear, food provisions and luggage.

Four star hotel accommodation will be provided in Kathmandu. In Tibet, accommodation will be in lodges for every stay overnight, whereas during the Kailash Parikarma and at Mansarovar, there will  be tents with foam mattresses and sleeping bags.

Sometimes the lodges in Tibet may not be sufficient to provide individual rooms, so you may have to share with fellow participants.

While on the trip, all main meals, tea, coffee, juice and drinking chocolate are included. Food is prepared by our trained cook and is served hot – however while travelling, a packed lunch will be  provided until the next stopover. Proper boiled water/mineral water will be provided.

There will be restricted means of communication during the trip, but the team leader will have a roaming phone to convey messages in an emergency which you can also use to call your home. Also telephone lines are available at various points of the journey.

Each participant must be covered by travel and medical insurance that should include helicopter evacuation in an emergency. Please hand us a copy of your insurance.

Bottled oxygen with mask and regulator for all emergency/medical purposes will be carried during the tour and the parikarma.
Prior to departure from Kathmandu each participant must leave a bond with Climb High in the form of an authorization letter. This enables Climb High, in the event of an emergency, to initiate emergency services and any other services necessary without delay.

In Tibet, only Chinese currency ‘Yuan’ is accepted. So it is advisable to exchange the currency you need before your departure for Tibet. You can exchange INR/ USD to Yuan in any money exchange in Kathmandu or at border. There are no ATM facilities available anywhere during the tour.

Tour Leader/Cook/Helpers

Each group will have a tour leader/guide accompanied by an experienced cook and the required number of helpers as per the group size. They are courteous and are fully committed in providing the best of their services. The tour guides are highly experienced with years of Kailash trips behind them.
